Affiliate: A web site owner that promotes a merchant's products and/or services, earns a commission for referring clicks, leads, or sales.
Affiliate Marketing: A revenue sharing arrangement between online merchants and distributors (affiliates) in which the affiliate earns a commission for producing a sale, lead or click for the merchant's site.

Commission: Also known as a bounty or referral fee, the income an affiliate is paid for generating a sale, lead or click-through to a merchant's web site.
Internet Marketing: Refers to the strategies that are used to market a product or service online, marketing strategies that include search engine optimization and search engine submission, copywriting that encourages site visitors to take action, web site design strategies, online promotions, reciprocal linking, and email marketing.
Niche Marketing: Focused, targetable market segment.
Pay-Per-Click (PPC): An advertising payment model where the advertiser pays only when the advertisement is actually clicked. Also, an affiliate program where an affiliate receives a commission for each click (visitor) they refer to a merchant's web site.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): The process of choosing keywords and keyword phrases relevant to your site or page on your site, and placing those keywords within pages so that the site ranks well when those keywords are searched upon.
Uniform Resource Locator (URL): The address of a site on the World Wide Web.
Be aware that building a successful business on the Internet is no get-rich scheme. You won't become a millionaire overnight. If it was truly that easy, everyone would be doing it. Regardless of what you read, you will have to put in a lot of time and effort. However, if you put forth the effort, this can be a very lucrative way to earn an income. Not to mention the fact that it can be a lot of fun too.

There are a few principles you should follow when starting your Internet marketing business. They may sound obvious, but you would be surprised at the number of web marketers that do not apply these principles. Needless to say, these individuals are not nearly as successful with their online endeavor.
Initiate these ideas to your home business plan, and you are sure to succeed!
Idea #1:
Don't put all your eggs in one basket! The most successful Internet marketers promote multiple products. You never want to be be stuck promoting only one product at a time. What if it isn't selling? Then you have to start from scratch. If you promote multiple products at one time, and one fails, you have others to fall back on, and its easy to swap out the failing product for something else.
Idea #2:
Similar to the above idea, don't use only one form of advertising! Not all advertising methods will be effective for every product. You will want to run a few different types of advertising for each product that you wish to promote. That way if you have a method that isn't producing sales, you can easily drop that method without having to start over with that product.
Idea #3:
Track your results! Use conversion trackers every chance you get. How else will you know what advertising methods are working and which ones are not. If you find that one method of advertising is converting to a lot of sales, you would want to know which method that is, right? That way you can concentrate your efforts on what is effective.
Conversely, you don't want to spend any more time, much less money, on an advertising method that isn't producing for you. Know where your sales are coming from. Implement trackers every chance you get!

Use programs/products and software to make your job easier. One of the best things you can do is use some of the great products and software available. Most of these programs will help you save time and teach you new ways to generate income. Streamline your business. You want to work more efficiently. The less time wasted doing menial tasks, the more time you can spend on things that will bring in more money for you.
